Coach Jherimy from McCollam Elementary School
What’s your favorite thing about being a coach?
My favorite thing about being a coach is watching my Junior Leadership Program grow. I believe in the power of play but I also believe in my Junior Coaches. They learn valuable leadership skills, how to be a team player and join a positive group of people who are a role models for their peers. Watching them develop these skills and lead is amazing. What inspired you to become a Playworks coach?
I wanted to be a positive role model for my school and community. Each day is a new life experience which is something that I enjoy. Being there for the students means a lot to me.
What’s the biggest change you’ve seen at your school because of Playworks?
The biggest change is the positive change in school climate, the school is now filled with positive energy! To see that ANY student, parent and teacher can feel free to join any game during school hours and feel welcome makes a huge difference in this school.
